Tommy Lee Jones is sticking it to the man. He claims he’s owed about 10 million smackeroos for his work on No Country For Old Men. We get wind of this suit thanks to the longhorn caves of Yahoo:
Tommy Lee Jones is suing the makers of “No Country for Old Men” for more than $10 million that the Oscar-winning actor claims he is owed for starring in the 2007 hit crime thriller.
The suit says Jones was paid a reduced upfront fee in joining the film, and that his contract had known errors not corrected before the movie was made. Jones, 61, is asking that an auditor be named to review financial records to determine how much he should be paid.
Ten million seems like quite a bit of money for this production. Then again, if bonuses were promised based on performance then Mr. Jones must get his cut as per the agreement. It sucks that anyone has to go to court over money, but when millions are on the line – I can see how some might be reluctant to hand it over.
At the end of the day, I hope the judge can use the wisdom of the ages to determine what is just and fair; and come to a satisfactory conclusion for all.
