There is no denying that Christian Bale is pretty hot right now (well… at least when he’s in a Batman outfit) and he’s scoring more and more marks with the nerdy geek crowd (you know, like me) with not only his role as Batman, but also in the upcoming Terminator movie where he plays John Connor.
There is a RUMOR floating around out there right now that it appears Christian Bale could next be tackling another comic superhero…. Doctor Strange. The outlet livenews gives us this:
“Doctor Strange is a very different kind of hero to Batman and it’s felt Christian is the sort of actor who can make the part work on screen. It is understood a deal could be struck in the coming weeks.” The Welsh-born star “tops the list” of movie bosses to portray Dr. Strange, a former surgeon who becomes a powerful sorcerer after a car accident leaves him unable to perform operations.
Ok, let’s just go with this for a second. I’m not usually one to agree with casting rumors, but in this case I’ll make an exception. I actually think casting Christian Bale as Doctor Strange would be a really nice fit. So if this RUMOR turns out to have some validity, count me in.
Having said that, I just personally can’t see Bale taking on a role like this one, especially since he’s already so identified with a comic book character. The fact that one character is a DC hero and the other is a Marvel wouldn’t be a problem since Bale doesn’t have a contract with DC comics, he has one with WB. But I just can’t see him putting his career in a pigeonhole like this
