We have word today that the french film Le Convoyeur is going to enter the Hollywood remake machine with Eric Bana set to star as the lead. We get wind of this news thanks to our good friends over at the movieweb:
Millennium Films is remaking the 2004 French heist drama Le Convoyeur, retitled to Armored, with Eric Bana in talks to star and F. Gary Gray attached to direct.
According to Variety, the drama is scripted by David Ayer and Andrew Kevin Walker and relocated to Michigan. The story follows a man who takes a job for an armored car company and ingratiates himself with his co-workers, who trust him enough to make him part of their heist plans. Unbeknown to his colleagues, the man had his own motives for taking the job.
A good heist movie can hit the spot every now and again, and stories about employes that do the job themselves is always a welcome angle in my books. I don’t love Eric Bana, but am never disappointed to hear his name. I consider him to be a a quality “jobber” to use a wrestling term.
I am interested if any of you have had the chance to see the original. If any of our Francophone friends may share with us their thought on the original – I would be very appreciative. Merci.
