I have to say that anything with Mark Wahlberg in it has my attention. Especially anything where he plays the underdog. He has such a quality for taking roles of that guy who deserves so much more and just cant get there, and when it happens you want to stand up and cheer. Maybe it’s because we will always remember him as Marky Mark and we wonder if he will ever get what he deserves (even though he is really living it right now)
But despite the buzz for the project “The Fighter”, it seems to have hit some unknown roadblocks.
Latino Review quotes an interview where Wahlberg talks about the status of The Fighter:
ComingSoon.net: Have you started shooting that yet?
Mark Wahlberg: No and I don’t know if we’re going to start.
CS: What do you mean? There’s so much buzz about it.
Wahlberg: I know. I keep on training and I don’t know. We’ll wait and see. Hopefully we’ll get a start date one of these days and we can make the movie.
CS: What’s the hold up?
Wahlberg: A whole bunch of things. It’s too depressing to talk about. I get up everyday at 5:00AM to train for a movie that might not even happen. It’s depressing.
That would be depressing to be making such an effort for a film knowing in the back of your head that there are a number of unnamed obstacles keeping it from ever happening.
We will keep an eye out for more news on this. Hopefully he gets it made.
