We have word today that the upcoming Amy Adams rom com LEap year has scored a director in Anand Tucker. We get the skinny from out friends at comingsoon:
Anand Tucker (Shopgirl) will direct romantic comedy Leap Year, starring Amy Adams. Spyglass Entertainment and Benderspink produce. Variety says the production is set to start filming in March in Ireland. Spyglass’ Gary Barber, Roger Birnbaum and Jonathan Glickman are producing with Benderspink’s Chris Bender and JC Spink.
The script by Harry Elfont and Deb Kaplan (Made of Honor) centers on a woman who travels to Dublin to propose to her boyfriend on leap day, Feb. 29, as part of an Irish tradition in which a man receiving a marriage proposal on that day has to say yes.
This film isn’t one that I am excited about. It seems like standard rom com fare, but the addition of Amy Adams is certainly good for the picture and raises its stock considerably.
Adams continues to climb the ladder of stardom and is quickly becoming one of Hollywoods most beloved darlings. If she ever gives birth I think people will save the umbilical cord and use it as a censor of blessing at the Ganges river. I would stand in line for a week for a baptism in her cord juice.
