Atlantis Rising Movie Handed To Len Wiseman

Atlantis-Rising.jpgWhile Len Wiseman isn’t anywhere near being “one of the great great directors”, I must admit he’s a director that I keep an eye on. His first couple of films, the Underworld franchise, had some weaknesses (especially the second one which I thought was just terrible), but it was a fascinating world he created with loads of potential… potential I hope to see come to fruition in Underworld 3. Len was also given the daunting task of directing Die Hard 4, and in my opinion he did a terrific job with it. Certainly not the best of the Die Hard film franchise, but a worthy addition. Oh… and any man that gets to sleep with Kate Beckinsale on a regular basis has my undying envy too.

Now Len has apparently been handed a new film to helm. An “Atlantis Rising” movie. The good folks over at MovieWeb give us this:

The comic was created by Scott Mitchell Rosenberg, as “a five-part miniseries” that was published by Platinum Studios. The plot of the movie focuses on a new race of people emerging from the depths of the ocean to battle the inhabitants of Earth. DreamWorks is the studio behind the film.

Sign me up! This sort of flick seems like a good one for a studio like Dreamworks, and with Wiseman’s experience with on screen action I think this one could be a winner. Stuff involving the mythology of Atlantis is always something that gets my attention.
