Betty Thomas Directing Alvin And The Chipmunks 2

Chipmunks-2-director.jpgOne of the most abysmal family films I’ve had the displeasure of viewing in the last couple of years was the eye gougingly horrific “Alvin and the Chipmunks”. Yeah we all knew it looked like it would be bad… but the fist 5 minutes were really cute and suckered me into getting my expectations up. Wow, that was the wrong thing to do… because that early pleasant surprise quickly turned into a movie watching nightmare. The movie was all kinds of shit on a shit sandwich served with a side order of shit.

However… like many bad movies… this money made a lot of money, virtually ensuring that a sequel would indeed be on the way. And sure enough, it is. The abomination even has a director attached now. Betty Thomas, who has directed such classics as “John Tucker Must Die”, “28 Days”, “I Spy” and “Doctor Dolittle”. I can smell Oscar already.

Oh, and to make things even better (for those of you who can’t tell… that’s sarcastic… this news makes it worse) they’re going to be brining in the Chipettes (the female versions of the Chipmunks). I hate life sometimes.
