The Dreamworks guys are looking at the Atlantis Rising comic book as the basis for a new apocalyptic sci-fi film.
Writer-director Joby Harold is negotiating to write the adaptation of the comic book “Atlantis Rising” for DreamWorks. Len Wiseman (“Live Free or Die Hard”) is attached to direct the apocalyptic science fiction project.
In “Atlantis,” an underworld civilization is discovered after seismic rumbles announce its presence. Hostilities with Earth’s land-dwellers ensue.
Sounds exactly like the plot of Submariner’s first appearance in Fantastic Four, so if this does happen it could squash any hopes of seeing a Namor film (not that I was hoping for one)
But Atlantis is one of those legends you can really have a lot of fun with for effects. Underwater dwelling people bent on the destruction of mankind for polluting its waters?? Awesome.
Hopefully we get to see some amazing visuals and a really epic story.
