Randy Couture Joins Stallone’s The Expendables

Randy-John-4.jpgRandy Couture is my frigging hero (that’s him with me in the picture. I trained for a while at Randy’s MMA gym in Hollywood). The man comes out of retirement well into his 40’s to fight for the UFC heavyweight championship against a much bigger and much younger champion that no one gave him a chance at beating. What did he do? He kicked the living crap out of the bigger younger champ to take the title. Then, they asked him to defend that title againt a young Brazilian giant named Gabriel Gonzaga who everyone said would destroy Couture. So what did Couture do? He gave Gonzaga the worst beating of his life and left him as a bloody mess… all done well into his 40’s. This man is a god.

Anyway, Couture can’t fight forever and has recently been going more and more into “acting” (if you can call it that), most recently as the main bad guy in Scorpion King 2. Well it appears he’s landed a much higher profile gig. MMAMainia gives us this:

Randy “The Natural” Couture will join action stars Jet Li, Jason Statham and Dolph Lundgren in Sylvester Stallone’s upcoming action flick ‘The Expendables’ according to Ain’t It Cool News.

Joining them will be Oscar-winner Forrest Whitaker in a tale of mercenaries on a mission to overthrow a South American dictator. Stallone has called the film, which he will produce, write and direct, a ‘homecoming of tough guys.’ Fortunately there doesn’t seem to be much of a plot so we don’t have to worry about it interfering with any of the action.

With the amazing balls to the wall action in Rambo, I’ve got a lot of hope in The Expendables. This thing could be fun.
