Iron Man was one of the biggest pleasant surprise movies for me ever. As I’ve mentioned before, when I first heard of the Iron Man movie getting the green light, I thought it was a stupid idea. I gradually warmed up to it and ended up really anticipating it. When it came out, turned out much better than I thought it would. Extremely entertaining movie.
The news and controversy surrounding Iron Man 2 has been pretty intense, especially the removal of Terrance Howard as war machine and being replaced by Don Cheadle. But now this new casting rumor is sure to heat things up even more. Word right now is that Oscar winner Tim Robbins is being tapped to play Tony Stark’s dad, Howard Stark, for some key flashback scenes in Iron Man 2. The good folks over at LatinoReview give us this:
Tim Robbins is going to be playing Howard Stark in an important flashback sequence that is going to set up the Avengers and Captain America films. Jon [Favreau] wanted to get a good actor because he didn’t think the guy who played Howard in the last film could carry such an important scene.
Personally I love this news. I think Tim Robbins is nothing short of an astonishing talent and I always say that it’s never the wrong decision to add talent. I really hope this turns out to be true. Perfect fit if you ask me.
