Terminator: Salvation – What Other Films Have Let You Down?

The sentiment seems to be sweeping around the web that Terminator: Salvation is a disappointment. I can’t definitely say that myself since I haven’t seen the movie yet (going tonight at last) but most of my trusted online friends (and Rodney too) have generally all reported back that the film doesn’t live up the the hopes of movie fans. Shame.

I had my doubts about this film right from the beginning when it was announced that McG was going to be directing it. I just do not trust the guy. He’s not a “bad” director, but I still haven’t forgiven him for Charlies Angels 2 and his involvement in Terminator made me very nervous. But still… the trailers looked pretty good so my expectations went up a bit. Guess I should have left them low.

But Terminator isn’t the first film that had our hopes high only to let them down.

1) Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace
Dear lord… just… dear lord

2) Spider-Man 3
I don’t know that Spider-Man 2 could have been any better. I don’t know how Spider-Man 3 could have been any worse. Looked so good… tasted so bad.

3) Pirates of the Caribbean 3
Good heavens that movie gave me the runs it was so bad. It’s my own fault since I should have expected it considering part 2 wasn’t nearly as good as part 1. I should have seen the pattern.

4) Mad Max: Beyond The Thunderdome
The series was so damn good… and the first part of this flick was also so damn good… and then just got so damn bad.

5) The Village
The movie that gave notice M. Night Shammhammers streak was coming to an end. So hyped for this movie… looked to be the next hit in the great shammhammer’s resume… but instead it introduced to to sucky Shammhammer.

Those are obviously just a few and just off the top of my head. What are some movies that you were dying to see only to walk out of the theater wishing you never went?
