Full House was a great little show for what it was. Harmless, “moral of the story” weekly vanilla that also gave some nice laughs from time to time. And now, John Stamos (who will be most remembered as the lucky bastard who got to sleep with Rebecca Romijn on a regular basis) has decided that a Full House movie would be a good idea.
Know what? I don’t disagree with him.
First of all it should be pointed out that the movie version that Stamos envisions would NOT have the original cast. The good folks at Cinema Blend give us this:
This wouldn’t be in the form of a potentially disastrous reunion, though. Instead, Stamos wants a new cast to play the characters. He even has some people in mind: “I see Steve Carell as [Bob Saget’s character] Danny Tanner and Tracy Morgan as [Dave Coulier’s] Joey Gladstone because he’s funny.” Such justification is impossible to argue against. As for the role of Uncle Jesse? Stamos would like to see James Franco take over.
Now don’t shoot me for this, but I think everything he says makes perfect sense.
Look, the CONCEPT of a guy who suddenly finds himself alone with 4 kids, and he has such a strong friendship with a couple of other guys that they agree to move in with him and help him raise his kids is actually really solid. Make it a comedy and it marketable to boot. Add the cast that he’s suggesting and you might actually have a winner on your hands. Think about it… seriously.
Now, keep in mind that NONE of this is official. It’s just Stamos talking which doesn’t really mean anything… but if I were a producer with some money to burn… I’d take a chance on the project. Your thoughts?
