Michael Moore To Stop Making Documentaries?

It doesn’t matter if they’re hard hitting true documentaries or pure fantasy fiction, I enjoy Michael Moore’s films. One can not deny that his films get people talking and indeed have made him the most successful filmmaker of the genre of all time. (And I don’t care what anyone says, SICKO is a damn brilliant film… especially as a Canadian who is down here in the States so much).

In doing some advanced PR work for his upcoming film “Capitalism: A Love Story”, Moore dropped this little bit of information about his career that has got people talking almost as much as his movies:

“While I’ve been making this film I’ve been thinking that maybe this will be my last documentary… Or maybe for a while. I have been working on two screenplays over the last couple of years. One’s a comedy, one’s a mystery, and I really want to do this.”

For those of you who may not remember, Michael Moore has made narrative features before. He both wrote and directed the hilarious comedy “Canadian Bacon” which featured such actors as John Candy, Kevin Pollak, Rip Torn, James Belushi and Alan Alda.

Personally I would be very interested in seeing Moore do some films… but at the same time… if he stopped making documentaries… what on earth would those on the Left and Right of the political spectrum have left to fight about?
