I have to say that I am really buzzing about the upcoming adaptation of Mark Millar’s Kick-Ass.
Some of that buzz comes from the great trailer and screens we have seen, and that positive buzz has translated back into a lot of confidence for the Millar camp, who are already planning a sequel.
Even though the first film has not been released yet there is already a lot of talk about a sequel, and from the sounds of it it is definitely going to happen. The plan was to get the second film made within two years so all the characters are basically the same age. Mark Millar, the writer of Kick-Ass says that there is definitely going to be a follow-up, and that it will begin shooting within two years. So confidence levels are high. They already kinda know what they are going to do, Millar says: “There’s a basic plot. The series ends on a teaser for the next one, and the movie ends on that teaser, too.”
Now a lot of films have that teaser at the end suggesting another chapter. So while they are confident to include a teaser for another film at the end of this one, it doesn’t mean it will happen. Now they are talking about a hook that could lead into further adventures, not a cliffhanger.
If the film is good (which I am hoping it will be) then the teaser will work out well for them. If not, it still won’t change anything about the film.
