Looks like the double entendre title of Kevin Smith’s Couple of Dicks won’t have any Dicks. Yes, I referenced a double entendre then continued to use a double entendre! Im clever like that.
Anyways, early on in production Kevin Smith considered changing the name to something less suggestive, and decided against it moving forward with the bold Couple of Dicks title. But now it looks like the Networks set to air the trailers on TV find the name offensive and are refusing to allow the commercials to air using that title.
Screen Junkies reports:
Censorship has struck again, and not even Kevin Smith can wield his mighty sword to defeat it. The TV networks are prudes and don’t like dirty words in their adveeeertissments (I wrote it like a proper British person would say it), so Smith’s new comedy is changing “Dicks” to “Cops” for a title of A Couple of Cops, and the result is not double-entendre-y.
So the less suggestive, less impacting and less amusing title will be A Couple of Cops? bleh. Boring.
I do find it puzzling since Smith released a film called Zack and Miri make a Porno, and that was publicized on TV and posters, but saying Dicks is too offensive?
