Clueless and Fast Times at Ridgemont High director Amy Heckerling has signed a deal with Parlay Films for the rights to her Vampire Romantic Comedy called Vamps which will head into production this coming spring.
The film will be a modern-day tale of two young female vampires living the good life in New York until love enters the picture and each has to make a choice that will jeopardise their immortality.
Krysten Ritter (“Confessions Of A Shopaholic”) will play female leads with additional casting underway.
So it looks like the Vampire craze is still hot, and long after Meyer’s finishes with Twilight, there will likely still be some tragglers sucking blood from that stone.
I am not that encouraged about Krysten Ritter, as she seems to be devoid of personality to me. Just not much of a draw.
The only thing that might suck me into this (see what I did there?) would be the casting of her partner in crime. Although I do find the premise interesting that there will be some way of un-vamping that the girls are struggling with, presumably to be mortal with her new love.
Most Vampire loves Mortal stories leave the inevitable “we could be immortal together forever” as the only option. I am at least a little curious to see how they make mortality more appealing than simply having her bite her lover.
