The title of this post was unintentionally ironic. Christ is resurrected on Easter… well duh? lol
You release Christmas movies at Christmas, Horror movies at Halloween, Romantic movies at Valentines Day, so what a better time than Easter 2011 to plan a feelgood holiday movie about the brutal and graphic torture and eventual death of the saviour of mankind.
indie producer named Bill McKay is working on a movie called Resurrection of the Christ. Lest you think this is some throwaway indie project which will never be heard from again, they say Samuel Goldwyn Film is backing it and the movie, set for an Easter 2011 release, will be a $20 million production.
Though not a direct sequel to Passion of the Christ, it sure seems to have a similar tone in its description.
This film will not focus only on the Crucifixion, but will throw a broad view surrounding the events spelled out in the bible, telling the story and giving form to the supporting cast that lead to the political assassination of the King of the Jews.
Passion of the Christ had a similar budget ($30million) and raked in an impressive $611m worldwide. But Bill McKay is not Mel Gibson.
But then the apostles were nobodies too, and people still talk about those guys today. Who knows?
