Weekend Boxoffice Report

At the boxoffice this weekend, Alice clearly dominated the pack with an impressive $116m opening, and while I have heard some kneejerk reactions that it is on its way to beating Avatar, I think thats a little presumptuous.

I didnt get around to seeing Brooklyn’s Finest, but happy to see that it settled in as the second place hit just edging out Shutter Island in its third week. I am hearing mixed reviews.

Boxoffice Mojo reports:

Opening Weekend March 5-7th
Alice in Wonderland $116,300,000 Opening
Brooklyn’s Finest $13,500,000 Opening
Shutter Island $13,300,000 3 wks
Cop Out $9,145,000 2 wks
Avatar $7,700,000 12 wks

Cop Out can brag that it beat Avatar but that encapsulated statement only holds true because Avatar is on its 3rd month in the Top 5.

What did you see this weekend?
