We talked earlier this month that director Bill Condon was in negotiations to direct the Twilight Breaking Dawn.
Well pen hit paper and its all official, Condon has the job.
“I’m very excited to get the chance to bring the climax of this saga to life on-screen,” he says, in the official press release. “As fans of the series know, this is a one-of-a-kind book, and we’re hoping to create an equally unique cinematic experience.”
Not earth shattering news really, and the book is “on-of-a-kind”. How often do you get the chance to make a film out of the longest epilogue in literary history?
But the interesting thing to point out is that while he is offering generic statements of support, no where are they saying anything about the proposed 2-film treatment rumoured to bleed Breaking Dawn’s boxoffice draw. I would suspect that if that was still happening they would have announced him to direct both, or at least state he is directing the first of two.
Originally it was speculated that they would make two films out of the final chapter of the Twilight Saga. And while I still hold that there isn’t enough plot for ONE movie, it seems that the more we hear about Breaking Dawn, the less we hear about the double dip.
