Sam Rockwell is taking a step down from the retina burning spotlight of big Hollywood film and eyeing an indie project called Sweet Baby Jesus.
Rockwell is currently interested in the role of Joe, “a guy who finds himself accompanying his pregnant teenage girlfriend to Bethlehem, Maryland. His girlfriend’s name is Mary and soon the town is agog that it’s about to witness the Second Coming.”
What’s more interesting is that the story takes place during Christmas in the 1970s, and Joe and his lady Mary (played by Pixie Lott) are hippies.
I am a little worried about Pixie Lott in the co-staring role. She’s 17 kinds of pretty, but she’s not an actress. She’s a popstar. That puts me on edge everytime.
I really didn’t like Rockwell in Iron Man 2. Not because I don’t like Rockwell, but I just didn’t like the character he got to play. Not Sam’s fault really. Typically I really like this guy, and indie fits him well.
And this sounds like it could be some fun.
