Maybe they just didn’t want to have this young couple competing their films on the same weekend, but Hudgen’s Beastly is being pushed back to avoid it being released on the same weekend as her beau Zac Efron’s Charlie St Cloud.
The next available weekend that doesn’t offer much competition? March 2011.
When Universal moved Efron’s drama, Charlie St. Cloud, from October to July 30th, that put it on the same weekend as Hudgens’ supernatural romance, Beastly; CBS Films then pulled their film in favor of a TBD date. Now we’re being told that the modern “Beauty and the Beast” update will open on March 18, 2011, opposite a Johnny Depp cartoon (Rango) and a Bradley Cooper thriller (The Dark Fields)
Wait didn’t we just have a March? Yeah, this is being pushed back 8 months!
I didn’t expect a big blockbuster out of this but I was curious to see how Hudgens plays in something that isn’t Highschool Musical (Band Slam wasn’t much different for her) and now we will wait until March 2011 just weeks before Zack Snyder’s twisted fairy tale Sucker Punch.
Guess they are not in a rush to show off this film.
