When will this movie come to fruition? The third element to DC’s superhero trinity, Wonder Woman, has been caught in the “process of making” for what it seems, an eternity. We’ve talked about who should play her. We’ve talked about how she should be done; more myth or more contemporary. We’ve talked about who should direct. Yet, nothing is moving forward. At least today we get some news of someone who’s trying hard to make this possible…
Regarding another DC Entertainment property, “X-Men” films producer Lauren Shuler Donner tells SCI FI Wire she really wants to take on a Wonder Woman movie.
“I’m campaigning to produce Wonder Woman for DC and Warners. They don’t want it, but I just think she’s the greatest character. She’s right up there, as you know, with Superman and Batman, the three of them. I want to produce Wonder Woman,” she said.
“Look, she’s a goddess and a superhero. How great is that? I think you need to stay close to the myth, but the studio I know wants to make it accessible, i.e., somewhat contemporary. I think there is a way to do it.”
The producer said that she would want to cast a young up-and-comer. “I think so, because I’d like it to grow. I think there’s a lot of Wonder Woman stories that would be great to tell. I see a couple of them.”
You know what? I like this. She’s got the experience of putting movies together and she’s got the balls to call for it. She wants to make the movie, she wants the responsibility of taking Wonder Woman to the big screen. Hey, give it to her. No one else wants to move it forward. Maybe she can.
She’s married to Richard Donner, who’s a Superman freak. She produced the X-Men trilogy. She’s probably the one producing the Magneto and X-Men: First Class films. So let her take a shot at it. Just, for the love of God, start moving forward!
Should she get a shot? Who should play Wonder Woman?
Anyways, in the meantime, I thought this picture was too funny, I had to post it…Enjoy Old Wander Man! Lol.
