Apparently Producer Christopher Meledandri spoke to ComingSoon, and said that the Stop Motion Adams Family project was not only still in motion, but were looking to Tim Burton to direct it.
“It’s all very, very early, but we are developing with [Tim Burton directing] in mind,” said Meledandri, “…We’re just now at the story phase. Stuff has been written as though we are doing it in black and white, but that’s not correct. It’s not incorrect, but it’s not correct. We haven’t gotten to that point.”
Now I know most of you are thinking its very typical for Tim Burton to do this film, not only is it gothic but its also stop animation which is clearly Tim Burtons thing to do. I’m not really sure how I feel about this news, yes Tim Burton could do a good job doing this and I don’t think he’d have to try very hard either since it’s the Adams Family! How much more gothic could it get. I do feel however that Tim Burton is pinning himself into a stereotypical corner where there’s no reason to get excited about future productions for they seem to all be gothic stop motion flicks.
Either way, I loved the adams family. I watched all the movies, cartoons and silly live action TV shows, and will probably end up watching this anyway. I guess deep down I just want to see something new and exciting from Tim Burton like how I felt when watching Edward Scissorhands or Ed Wood.
