While many people are eating up the news that Pirahna 3D screening at Comic Con was BANNED, it seems that it was simply canceled at the request of the event organizers because age is not checked before entering the hall, the the footage they intended to show was not suitable for all audiences.
Paul Scheer, who appears in the film, said,
Piranha 3D has been banned from this year’s Comic Con Convention in San Diego for being too “Intense” and “NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY”And what’s better for a reputedly bloody, very R-rated film like Piranha 3D? A little controversy!
But HitFix spoke to David Glanzer, Comic Con’s director of marketing and public relations, who said,“My understanding is that thee footage wasn’t all ages appropriate. We don’t check ID to get into those meeting rooms, so we don’t want something inappropriate.”
See, it all depends on who you ask. While Paul Scheer might have wanted to spin it to add to the gore factor and superficial eyecandy that will be carrying the film, but he wasn’t entirely inaccurate about it.
The convention planners are being responsible with the attendance, not deliberately going out of their way to snub the film.
This looks like it will be great mindless eyecandy fun, but my kids won’t be watching it either.
