Dolly Parton and Queen Latifah will be squaring off in a musical driven Joyful Noise.
The story centers around two women who join forces to prevent a small-town gospel choir from shutting down. Latifah will play the mother of two teens who is put in charge of the Pacashau Gospel Choir after the death of its choir director.
Dolly Parton has not been in a feature film since 1992, and while known for her petite yet busty stature, she is better received as a country singer. And that girl has some pipes.
So who better to play opposite her than Queen Latifah, who can keep up vocally and has just as much personality. I just love this woman’s presence and seems I enjoy just about everything she is in.
This will be written and directed by Todd Graff, who brought us such hits as Band Slam. So I expect a lof of family friendly light hearted fun.
And gospel music.
