I have to admit, the first Nanny McPhee movie actually surprised me a lot with its charm and dare I say.. magic.
So when I heard they were doing a sequel, I was at least interested. Check out the Trailer:
The hard part about sequelling is that you have to live up to the first.
The first film had magic but it was more subtle. And there was emotional levels for all ages as the father had his story, and the kids had theirs – and each story impacted the other. This looks like its geared more towards the kids than the first ever was, and the “magic” effects have taken a big step up in scope.
The theme of the character is still the same. She comes when she is needed and the rule is that “When you don’t want her, but need her she will be there. When you want her, but no longer need her she must go” Its a tough lesson for kids to wrap their heads around, but eventually they come to understand the bittersweet of learning to get along.
I am looking forward to it.
