Sir Sean Connery is officially an octogenarian as today he marks his 80th year on planet earth. And to celebrate the birthday he reaffirms his retirement assuring the public that he is done with acting.
ScreenCrave quotes Connery plain and simple:
“I don’t think I’ll ever act again,” he said. “I have so many wonderful memories but these days are over.
And I say good for him. I would like to see Connery end his career on something of a higher note than that sad adaptation of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (insanely good comic – terrible film) But I will not begrudge such a respected man and actor of his retirement.
He is swimming in money respect and women. What more could a man want?
He offered his voice to a Scot made animated feature of a skateboarding old man on an adventure to save a town’s goat (not making that up – its called Sir Billi) and that may well be his last film credit.
He already retired from acting a long time ago, but like any popular retiring preformer, we wait anxiously for him to go back on that and get tempted to do it again. Like rumours that he might have made a cameo in the last Indiana Jones flick, which he quickly dismissed. And now that they are making a fifth Indy, the speculation has arose again.
But no. He isn’t. He put his foot down on it and he is done.
Let the man retire in peace.
Happy Birthday Sir Sean Connery!
