Last we heard, Anchorman 2 was dead in the water and the studio just had no interest in pursuing Adam McKay’s silly newscast comedy. But upon hearing it the interwebs opened up in a cry of ultimate suffering, and it was a torturous sound that was heard all the way in Hollywood to Paramount’s chamber of Wills.
And now it seems there is new interest in Anchorman 2.
Collider quotes McKay asking him if the fan outcry had anything to do with this change of heart.
“It did, it made a difference. Paramount heard it. Adam Goodman, the President of Paramount, was on the first one so he loves it and when that outcry came, he was kind of excited because he knew it could maybe push it towards happening. That having been said, I’m clearly going into it like another movie so if it does happen it’s still two years away or a ways away. And I haven’t talked to anyone. There’s nothing happening right now but it helped, it helped.”
I really hope they skip things forward a bit and play with the 80s instead of the 70s. Show these guys as veterans in the industry in a new era to spoof.
Regardless, I am always up for another dose of the Anchorman charm.
