Orson Scott Card’s classic science fiction novel Ender’s Game has been in production limbo for a long time and now it seems that Gavin Hood has stepped up with a script in hand and hopes to direct it.
Now, somehow, the man who destroyed Wolverine may be the one to rescue Ender. According to The LA Times, X-Men Origins: Wolverine director Gavin Hood is developing the project, having done a rewrite of Card’s script and with plans to direct.
The film has not been greenlit just yet, but this is more movement than we have seen since Joel Silver optioned the novel for film adaptation four years ago.
It still remains to be seen if Gavin Hood is truely the man who raped X-Men Origins Wolverine. There were clearly some things that were done very well with that film that I liked, and a lot that wasn’t. And how much of that was Hood’s fault? Hood didn’t write it, and he directed the screenplay he was handed. Hood didn’t approve or do the special effects. Hood might not have had much to do with any of the parts I disliked about Wolverine.
Could he be a good match with Enders Game? He is writing it with the intention of directing it himself.
Time will tell.
