Looks like Hansel and Gretel just can’t let go of a grudge. After being abducted by candy house living kid eating witches, they decided to become Witch Hunters and bring justice to the woods of their simple lives. With shotguns.
And this silly but incredibly fun idea will be a film aptly named Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters will star Jeremy Renner and Noomi Rapace as the victims turned grown up vigilantes.
15 years after the Brother’s Grimm fable where a witch with an edible house tried to cook the young-lings for stew. Now grown-up, they are shotgun wielding, witch slayers and the concept is cool enough to break out of it’s B-movie shackles having courted the duo of Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker) and Noomi Rapace (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo).
A similar concept of updating fairytales will be coming this October on Syfy called “Red” which will explore a decendant of Little Red Riding Hood continuing a long and proud legacy of werewolf hunters. It stars Felicia Day and was filmed right here in my hometown.
But I do like the idea of Renner and Rapace playing siblings as stars. Removes the impulse to make them love interest anyways.
Make them a team full of well co-ordinated kickassery and give us a supernatural action fest.
I’m in.
