Recently it was announced that Keith Richards would be reprising his role as Jack Sparrow’s father in the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. But then after some consideration, they are now thinking of pulling his scenes out citing that his new book as some things to say that they dont agree with.
Now, according to the Drudge Report, the studio is considering cutting all of Richards’ scenes out of the movie. Apparently, the musician’s new book, “Life,” talks about things that Disney doesn’t agree with, like teaching people that using high-quality drugs in moderation is a safe way to get stoned.
Richards writes: “It’s not only the high quality of drugs I had that I attribute my survival to. I was very meticulous about how much I took. I’d never put more in to get a little higher. That’s where most people f*ck up on drugs.”
Because clearly a book was needed to be aware of Keith Richard’s substance abuse habits?
They knew that his long history of drinking and drugs are synonymous with his name, yet they still modeled the rum swilling womanizing Jack Sparrow on him, making him the perfect choice to play his father.
I can see where Disney is coming from as they don’t want to have a negative influence in a family friendly film, but they didn’t consider this when they used him in the last film?
Sounds like too little too late. No reason to pull him now. If his bad influence was going to reflect badly on them, it already would have.
