Piranha 3D took the movie world by storm this summer and it is not surprise that they are fast tracking the sequel, cleverly named Piranha 3DD. But what is a big surprise is that they are scheduling this sequel for an August 2011 release. A short 10 months away without even a script.
Dimension has reportedly hired Saw franchise writers Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan to write the screenplay for the horror-comedy sequel. On top of that the sequel has been given a very bold title: Pirahna 3 DD.
Along with replacing the original writers, the studio has also replaced director Alexandra Aja with John Gulager
I think with a film like this you cant take yourself too seriously, and considering there were two things that stood out to most people about this film, it makes sense that they would use those two things to create an imacting title.
3d and Boobies.
And as noted, by combining these writers and this particular director, they have reunited the team that brought us 2005’s Feast, which was the feature of season 3 of TV’s Project Greenlight.
