While there seemed no more perfect casting than JK Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson, but as with any reboot, the pain of recasting a character that was so loved in a different version. Mark Webb has a short list of actors to play the Daily Bugle’s high stress Editor in Chief. And John Slattery and Sam Elliot top that list.
Webb has suffered a few sleepless nights recently trying to decipher who should fill the editor-in-chief vacancy for The Daily Bugle. It’s said he’s now got a shortlist of 12 contenders, top of which include John Slattery (Mad Men, Howard Stark in Iron Man 2) and Sam Elliott (Ghost Rider, Hulk).
While J Jonah Jamison is a supporting role so I would have forgiven them for using Simmons again. But for many of the reasons I don’t see Routh playing Superman again, I don’t see Simmons in this Spider-Man
The man was perfect. But he was perfect for THAT version of Spider-man I am hoping that with this reboot we will get a different tone and feel for the web head, and with that being said I look forward to seeing a whole new version of these characters. Something different but still a good adaptation of the comics.
You see Froggy, they are not better friends… just different.
