In May of this year WB Greenlit Grudge Match and speculation arose as to what two aging actors would they put in the ring for this story of two retired boxers having one final blow.
We didn’t pick Stallone and DeNiro, but it seems they are in talks to take the leads.
Worst Previews shares:
Sylvester Stallone and Robert De Niro are in talks to star as the film’s two leads.
Similar in tone to “Space Cowboys,” the new movie revolves around retired boxers Billy “The Kid” McGuigan and Henry “Razor” Sharp, lifelong bitter rivals who are coaxed out of retirement and into the ring for one final grudge match — 50 years after their last title fight.
I wouldn’t have anticipated they would have gone with Stallone considering his long traditional character role of Rocky Balboa. How do we NOT make the comparison of the latest Rocky film that featured Rocky coming out of retirement for one last match?
Deniro I wouldn’t have picked either, but that’s just because I hadn’t thought of it.
Stallone is pretty damned jacked still, and I don’t think Deniro has ever had much of a physique, so this puzzles me.
I will have to wait and see if this is going to work.
