James Gunn’s Super sounds like a clone of Kick-Ass, but I have been dying to see it for a while after missing it at the Toronto International Film Festival.
But we now get an official release date, and Super will see its way to the big screen for a wide release on April 1st, 2011
Wilson stars as a normal guy named Frank who decides to become a crimefighter when his wife (Liv Tyler) leaves him for a drugdealer (Bacon), taking on the identity of the Crimson Bolt and agreeing to let a young overzealous comic shop employee (Page) to be his sidekick Boltie. Together, they fight crime in the most violent manner imaginable.
The sneak peek at the film showed a pretty brutally violent scene where our “hero” stands up to a line-butting smartass with a pipe wrench. I think that really sets the pace as to the kind of story we are going to see.
This Hero will be pushing the line of “standing up for yourself” instead of just becoming a criminal himself.
