The alien scientist fish chicken known as Tomar-Re in Green Lantern is one of Jordan’s closest friends in the Corp and though we get a brief look at him in the trailer, the seriously hokey alien fish chicken actually looks cool in this much better look at the noble Green Lantern of sector 2814 (a sector that included Krypton)
I really hope they build up the relationship and kindness shown by Tomar-Re to the Hal Jordan in the films. There was always a struggle with the character and Hal as they two genuinely were close, but it was bittersweet as Tomar-Re was very close to Abin Sur – the Lantern who bequeathed his ring to Jordan on his deathbed. It was because of Sur’s deminse that Hal and Tomar-Re even met.
