Looks like Hansel and Gretel just can’t let go of a grudge. After being abducted by candy house living kid eating witches, they decided to become Witch Hunters and bring justice to the woods of their simple lives. With shotguns.
And this silly but incredibly fun idea will be a film aptly named Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters will star Jeremy Renner and Noomi Rapace as the victims turned grown up vigilantes.
15 years after the Brother’s Grimm fable where a witch with an edible house tried to cook the young-lings for stew. Now grown-up, they are shotgun wielding, witch slayers and the concept is cool enough to break out of it’s B-movie shackles having courted the duo of Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker) and Noomi Rapace (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo).
A similar concept of updating fairytales will be coming this October on Syfy called “Red” which will explore a decendant of Little Red Riding Hood continuing a long and proud legacy of werewolf hunters. It stars Felicia Day and was filmed right here in my hometown.
But I do like the idea of Renner and Rapace playing siblings as stars. Removes the impulse to make them love interest anyways.
Make them a team full of well co-ordinated kickassery and give us a supernatural action fest.
I’m in.
Love it. I think if done right this could be awesome and by the trajectories of these two actor’s careers it looks like it will be done right. Most action movies are based on myth and fairy tales anyway, why bother hiding it. Also, I get why they are re-making TGWTDT for english speaking audiences, but the original kicked so much ass I think they could have left it at that (with a bit more promotion). Saw the pics of the new Salander and Rooney look exactly like Rapace’s Lisbeth.
I like Renner and Rapace kicked some major ass in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. I’m not familiar though with the director’s work so I’m kinda neutral to this news.
This is like taken from the comic, Legends by Radical
Why not get 2 of the biggest up and coming up actors to make a bad ass B movie! sounds good to me!
Who says it has to be a B Movie?
