Mortal Kombat Rebirth Returns For More

Last summer there was a test reel pitch regarding a possible reboot of the ‘Mortal Kombat’ franchise. The video was well praised for some fight scenes and hints of carnage. Remember? Anyone? Oh well….Warners did.

BUT ‘Rebirth’ is NOT coming to a thatre ner you. Not even your Redbox or VOD. Where’s it going, you ask (not that you were asking…but still…)..well, it’s on your computer!
The Escapist reports:

Rebirth director Kevin Tancharoen will return to his Mortal Kombat vision for a 10-episode web series officially approved by Warner. Michael Jai White will return as “Jax” Briggs, but the rest of the cast hasn’t been confirmed yet.

The basic storyline of the trailer followed the revival of a Mortal Kombat tournament, with Jax requesting that the man known as Scorpion enter and kill every entrant.

Nothing to jump up and down about, that’s true. But that video was badass, there’s no getting around that. Who knows, maybe the MK Webseries might be a good way to test the waters for a future film.

But for now…will you tune in? Or tune out?
