Chu Gets GI Joe 2 After All

Well, I was wrong. And also concerned. But it IS the GI Joe sequel here, and Step Up 3D’s John Chu is officially given the gig.Obsessed With Film gives us:

Chu, director of the Step Up sequels, has been chosen by Paramount to direct the next installment of the G.I. Joe franchise.

Chu beat out F. Gary Gray (Law Abiding Citizen) and Jaume Collet-Serra (Unknown) to the director’s chair and he will helm G.I. Joe 2 this fall, from a script by Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.

But hold the phone. hat’s not all. It seems Paramount is responding to the negative response overall from the previous film, some of the first film’s cast may not be back. Some characters might even be recast. I don’t think Snake Eyes is one of them-Ray Park had the best dialog in the entire film.
