Ice Cube joining 21 Jump Street

21 Jump Street is getting some traction as Cinemablend is stating that another star has been added to the cast with rapper/director/producer Ice Cube joining Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum in the film.

Musician/ director/ actor Ice Cube is in talks to play the precinct captain. A phenomenon at the time, 21 Jump Street aired on Fox in the late 1980s and helped propel Johnny Depp to superstardom.

I like the idea of 21 Jump Street but I’m pretty indifferent about this casting news. Ice Cube has been hit-or-miss for me, mostly miss, but might not be too bad of casting depending on what they have planned. I would prefer that Ice Cube spend more time getting Smokey out of rehab for another Friday movie but hopefully Ice Cube can do for this film what Diddy did for “Get Him to the Greek” and make me want to cover my house in furry walls.
