First Look at Palicki as TV’s Wonder Woman

Adrianne Palicki will be TV’s new Wonder Woman, and while I had no doubts she would be hot enough to pull it off, we finally get our first peek at the actress in the proposed costume for the TV series and I have to say I am impressed.

Now to clarify, by “impressed” I may be implying that I need some “alone time”.

But honestly the costume is mostly impressive. It keeps a lot of the elements of the original digs, the bold red lips, dark flowwy hair and of course the Wonder Corset. The pants I can deal with as I think the classic Wonder Woman bathing suit look just doesn’t work in translation to live action.

This all being said, in the bigger picture, imagining this on screen in an ongoing TV series, I don’t know that I would have wanted a costume so bold. The Straczynski remake on the costume might have been a better choice, but perhaps this Diana Prince will be donning a leather jacket alongside this look too.

The last thing that gets me is those boots. They should have been red. That’s all.

What do you think?

  1. I think that ‘Adriana Lima’ has the looks of Lynda Carter,… I don’t think she is right for it they say Adrianne Palicki will be justice league wonder woman

  2. O.k. (slow day for me)

She’s actually hotter as a blonde. Her Jawbone looks huge in this shot.
and I’m reallt dissapointed that theres no visable “Camel Toe”.

    WTF?

    1. Im so glad someone at least caught onto that….

This 1st picture and uniform is clearly for Wonder Woman XXX, maybe Greenlatern will turn up and put his ring of justice to good use

  3. Bad choice. They should have taken the lead of other modernizations of super heros and gone for a more muted look. Sorry to all the fan boys out there, but ditch the red, white, blue & gold. At least the vibrant shades. I think it would have been better as black/gray leather interpretation, like the X-Men costumes. I think DC released a new version of the costume for the comics back in June of last year. That costume had black pants and a blue half jacket over a tight red tope with a gold belt bold and hanging chain . That would be awesome.

At least we didn’t get the blue-with-white-stars panties from the 70’s.

  4. Well, As I watch this David E. Kelley production push forward I start to wonder about alot of things. Why is he tackling this kind of project? Why is this actress even being considered “hence” Amazonian woman she is not and could hardly ever be. (This is why linda carter worked very well) If you can’t get the costume right “Those blue pants are what part of the history of Wonder Woman”? I am at a loss in so many areas. So it makes me wonder if Mr Kelley even thought a little bit before jumping into this arena. Lets hope he proves all of this wrong. As I would hate to be right about all these things in the end. I’m just sayin..LOL..

    1. That is a lot of assuming considering all you know about this show is this costume and that Kelley is producing.

Did he even think about it? I am sure he has a plan. No producer sets out to make a TV show without some sort of a plan. And this is hardly new territory for Kelley. Aside from it being a superhero, this is right up his alley as he has a long history of creating popular properties with strong female leads.

The pants? Aside from being Blue, this costume is very similar to Straczynski’s current costume in the comic books, so yes this is very much “in the history of Wonder Woman”. Just because the costume isn’t exactly the same down to the thread count doesn’t mean the show will fail or that Kelley doesn’t have a plan.

If this series fails, it wont be because she’s wearing pants.

  5. Just awful. Way too plastic looking and those pants are way too tight for battle. As ridiculous as the bikini bottoms were, they allowed more than enough flexibility. How could anyone move efficiently in those?

      1. Yeah looks like lycra Rodney. I suppose it may be somewhat durable but the shininess makes it look like she’d have problems with a bad guy armed with a bic.

  6. Well, its a brightly lit studio shot. If like everything these days its filmed with filters to give it a blueish hue, then the colours will be subdued

  7. I dont mind the fact that the costume is re-designed but the color contrast is just dreadful. Sorry the shiny blue vinyl pants really need to go, they are absolutely horrid.
I think if they tweak the colors and ditch the vinyl pants it would be fine.

  8. horrible!!! what’s up with the cuffs being silver while the rest of the costume is gold, I know silver and gold can be worn together but that looks awful, as well as the boots, definitely should be red or gold! way too shiny as well, all in all it’s a fail!

  9. I laugh so hard just at the mere fact that this is nothing like the comic. I know Linda Blair had her moment but that was in the corny late 70’s She is an Amazonian princess. Give her a princess feel.

  10. Rodney! I have been waiting for you guys to post this! Seen this on another website and thought it was terrible. I mean, the thing looks totally plastic. Couldn’t wait to see what you guy’s thought. Now…she is hot but the costume is not. If they would have used some real material in there somewhere and made the metal parts look like metal it would have been better. This thing looks as though it’ll rip the first time she moves. She’s supposed to be a warrior, this stuff ain’t built for battle. I think the boots should have been red too.

    1. And the bathing suit corset was made for battle?

I don’t mind the costume. It’s very true to the original concept (with pants) and she’s sure pretty enough. But the Linda Carter WW didn’t wear metal either so I am not that concerned about “battle ready”

It is a bit “vibrant” for my liking, but it LOOKS good. How it will translate to the screen or believability in the show, who knows?

  11. It kinda looks like an add for a halloween costume to me…too “plasticy” I think. That being said, it is very true to the comics and this girl does look the part.
