THE GENERAL IDEA
Little Blue Pill is a feature-length comedy about an unlucky hipster who accidentally takes two Erectile Dysfunction pills and has to go through a day of misadventures, while the creators of the pill attempt to locate him and neutralize the problem before he can discredit their company.
THE GOOD
Not a bad fun nonsense film with situation comedy that makes you wonder why this guy left the house. Of course if he didn’t there wouldn’t be a movie so away he goes trying to get through his day with a raging hard on, which gets him into more trouble than he could have imagined. Or that you could imagine.
The main character is likeable even in his impossible situations and does a pretty decent job keeping the panic and terror over a hard on very real, all things considered. While reason is unravelling around him, he maintains the crazy – which works for his role. And of course when the platonic gal pal comes to his rescue and faces that she might like him as more than just a friend, for no reason at all she decides to do it in a stripper nurse outfit. Its a movie about a man with a never ending errection, so I will allow it – and she was attempting to infiltrate a hosipital. What else would she wear? Besides, Rosie Tisch is easily the best looking woman in the movie.
THE BAD
The supporting cast in this are just too cartoony and over the top to even take a moment of this film seriously. The roomate is overcompensating with his self admitted masturbation as his “sexual conquests” that takes away from the one moment in the film when he is “real” with his buddy. The “badguys” are narrowed down to a German mad scientist who lacks any rational thought or morals, a legal executive type that is completely useless (the actor is not enjoyable to watch and his character isn’t helping) and two reluctant lab nerds. I couldn’t enjoy any of the scenes with them in it.
The acting is pretty much reserved for the main stars Aaron Kuba and Rosie Tisch and at least that much is passable. The rest of the characters just seem to be trying too hard.
OVERALL
It was fun to watch, but easily torn to shreds if you wanted to pick it apart. It is an independently produced film, which doesn’t excuse quality. But at the core of it, there are some amusing moments, but nothing I was busting a gut over.
I give Little Blue Pill a 5 out of 10
