Did you think that the Return of the King was too short at 3 and a half hours? ME TOO, so with great enthusiasm I’m glad to share that the definitive, 683 minutes total, Lord of the Rings trilogy will be in theaters this June.

TheOneRing.net has discovered that AMC has scheduled special event screenings of all three Lord of the Rings: Extended Editions this June in honor of the upcoming summer release of the long-awaited LOTR:EE Blu-Rays (pre-order them here). There’s not much info, but the three dates are: Fellowship of the Ring (Extended Edition) on June 14th at 7PM, The Two Towers (Extended Edition) on June 21st at 7PM, and The Return of the King (Extended Edition) on June 28th.
This is great news for those who were not able to catch any previous theatrical showings of the extended editions of this trilogy. I was really astonished at how much of a difference watching the extended versions were versus the theatrical versions. I now refuse to watch the trimmed down versions as I don’t think I’m watching the ‘real’ movie and instead label the trimmed versions ‘LoTR: Lite’. The REAL LoTR is only found in these extended versions and you do yourself, and Tolkien, a disservice if you haven’t already seen these. Now go and pre-order theater tickets, or at least Blu-Ray discs.
