There have apparently been some leaked images from Twilight Breaking Dawn, but Twilight author Stephanie Meyer alongside Breaking Dawn Director Bill Condon and Producer Wyck Godfrey have issued a statement pleading bloggers like me to resist posting any leaked images of their upcoming film.
Its not a cease and descist letter. We have received those and respectfully comply. Its a personal note asking us not to. Because they don’t like publicity.
As some of you may know, pictures and screen grabs of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn as a work in progress have leaked on the internet. We are extremely proud of this film and also extremely heartbroken to see it out there at this stage.
The film and these images are not yet ready or in their proper context. They were illegally obtained and their early dissemination is deeply upsetting to the actors, the filmmakers and Summit who are working so hard to bring these movies to fruition to you in November 2011 and November 2012.
Please, for those who are posting, stop. And please, though the temptation is high, don’t view or pass on these images. Wait for the film in its beautiful, finished entirety to thrill you.
Sincerely,
Stephenie Meyer, Bill Condon, Wyck Godfrey and Summit Entertainment
Interestingly enough there has been a dramatic decline in the Twilight buzz. Despite the third film in the series raking in the most money in the series so far, there still has been an absense of that media blitzing that was going around. NOTHING at recent conventions, no piles of Twilight merchandise in the malls. Nothing.
Perhaps that has something to do with the fact that the third book is the REAL ending of the story, and the fourth book is just “what happens next” fanwank – a whole book of material that could be summed up in an epilogue chapter.
But maybe it has something to do with a lack of interest. Even the most devoted of Twilight fans are moving on to different things now. They just don’t seem to care anymore.
Twilight Fever is over and they still have another two films (The last chapter is stupidly being stretched into two films – do they think they are Harry Potter?)
You would think the studios would be ITCHING for this free publicity. ANYTHING to try and generate some of that fever that fueled the previous installments to insane boxoffice draws. Even misleading images get people talking, wondering, and buzzing!!!
So shoot yourself in the foot and beg people NOT to publicize your product for the sake of “the art”?
Ironically, this site that despite having luke warm feelings about Twilight usually does post these things and these “leaked images” escaped my notice as well.
Maybe this is a reverse psychology ploy alerting me to these “leaked images” hoping we do spam them all over the net. Because they need the help.
