Cinemablend has the latest:
Variety reports that Fox has hired Max Landis, the writer of the in-development screenplay Chronicle and, yes, the son of John, to work on the screenplay for a new Frankenstein film. There’s no word on what kind of take he’d have on the story.
It is a wonderful question. For those who give a care, here’s the breakdown for ol’ uncle Frank:
-
1- Matt Reeves directing one about Dr. Frankenstein attempting to save his brother’s life
2- Sony has a version planned, set in the present.
3- A film where Mary Shelly incorporates herself into her own tale.
4- Guillermo del Toro’s project, if it ever gets off the ground with his slate.
Now, this isn’t vampires or werewolves. This is an individual monster, and a (generally) sympethetic one at best. Yes, the other films might deal with his creator and author-creator, but at the rate we are are going, I’m nearly expecting a Mary Shelly Bio-Pic and a remake of 1985’s The Bride… I could be wrong and there is another Bride Of Franky around but might as well…y’know?
