Percy Jackson’s Sea Monsters Gets Director And His Name Is Thor

Thor Freudenthal (Diary Of A Wimpy Kid, Hotel For Dogs) has signed the dotted line to direct the sequel to Percy Jackson & The Olympians.
Yes, I know you’re all filled with joy… In any case, some folks are.

Movieweb has the story:

20th Century Fox has also exercised the option on star Logan Lerman, which means he will reprise his role as the title character. The story for this sequel revolves around the title character and his new friends, who journey under the sea to find the mythical Golden Fleece, and rescue their kidnapped friend.

It is believed that Fox wants to move quickly on this sequel, in hopes to release it in 2012. The first movie, Percy Jackson & the Olympians: Lightning Thief took in $87 million at the domestic box office, and an additional $137 million worldwide.

Fox working “quickly”—you don’t say! Guess they’ll have to wait until Thor finishes up his ‘Scavengers’ project anyway. Still, it can’t get any worse than that muddled mess that Chris Columbus had to deal with a short time ago. Could it?

What do you think Int’l friends? Want to give Percy a second try at the box office?
