Reboot alert: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

It’s been a while since the TMNT team has graced the silver screen with their CGI effort doing respectable numbers in the box office that seemed to resuscitate the careers of our amphibious reptilian ninja’s. Then the studio that made TMNT closed after their not-so-successful Astro Boy failed to meet expectations. All seemed dark on the turtle front until today as we learn that the that they’re coming back. Again. For real this time.

The studio has assigned screenwriters, Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec to the film, which is simply being called ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ at this point. The duo worked together on the upcoming continuation of the ‘Mission: Impossible’ series from director, Brad Bird, ‘Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol.’ Michael Bay is on board as a producer of the new ‘Turtles,’ as are Brad Fuller and Andrew Form.

No mention as to whether this will be another all CGI affair, or if the they’ll go with the “karate guy in costume” route. Either way, I’m apprehensively looking forward to more news. I liked those Turtles when I was a kid and they have sentimental value. I still picture Raphael being thrown through the skylight and the never ending army of Ninja assassins that made up the Foot Clan. Man I loved being a Turtle FAN. I’m an adult now and adults don’t get excited by this kinda stuff, right?
