Would you rather see a live action version of Spy vs. Spy – the MAD Magazine characters – or are you into Formula One racing and a ‘Rush’? That’s the kind of projects facing Ron Howard at the moment. Unless of course, Universal gives the okay on Dark Tower. Then this all moot. But in the meantime, Deadline reports:
Remember Spy vs. Spy, the running comic strip of one-ups-manship between rival spooks from Mad Magazine? A live-action bigscreen version is moving forward at Warner Bros for Ron Howard to direct. David Koepp will produce with Howard and his Imagine Entertainment partner Brian Grazer. Right now, Koepp will oversee a script that will be written by John Kamps.
Well, if any of you are skeptical, that’s alright. It’s just one of many possible projects Howard is working on and/or considering. Aside from his hopes on The Dark Tower, there is the bio-pic of Formula one racer Niki Lauda called ‘Rush’ which picked up some speed when the Oscar winning director’s name got attatched to it a few days ago, and most likely could start filming even before Dark Tower.
But there is one good thing I’ll say about Spy vs. Spy. I don’t know who could be cast, but I would have zero problem if Howard chose to go back to doing comedies for a short while.
