TWC Annouces Release Dates For ‘Halloween 3D’ and another Scary Movie (the fifth one)

In a double whammy, The Weinstein Company has announced release dates for the third installment in the rebooted ‘Halloween’ franchise (and in 3D no less) and Scary Movie 5. Both films arrive in theatres sometime next year.
Den Of Geek reports:

Scream 4 wasn’t the raging success that it had hoped for, yet it’s still going to make a tidy profit, and that’s presumably what has helped put Scary Movie 5 back on the radar. This one’s definitely going ahead, although there’s no confirmation of who is doing it this time around…Meanwhile, Halloween 3D is also on the cards, a follow up to the two Rob Zombie Halloween movies…Halloween 3D will arrive on October 26th 2012

Just one small hiccup for both pictures, however: neither one is currently filming. Only one currently has a script (Halloween 3) but the writer/director team of Drive Angry – Patrick Lussier and Todd Farmer are prepping the Hellraiser remake first. Okay, it could be questioned if ‘Scary Movie’ actually NEEDS one…

But I’m also concerned about the 3D thing. Sure, Lussier and Farmer did it with nice bravados on the redo of My Bloody Valentine to be sure, but do we need to repeat the same gags like severed jaws ripped out, flying at the camera? Does this mean that the remake of Hellraiser is put on hold again – and the chance for another DTV no budgeter moldy cheesefest so someone can cash in? That’s the real horror, my friends.

Okay. Maybe some of you would rather see a Halloween 3D. Scary Movie 5 though…I’m not so sure. Unless they intend to cast Charlie Sheen who will spoof himself winning.

Chime in..
