Weekend Boxoffice Report July 22nd-24th

Captain America clearly held the lead this past weekend. Advanced reviews granted a lot of buzz to the project and there was no shortage of anticipation. Still I wondered if it was going to be enough to dethrone Harry Potter’s final chapter.

Obviously it was!

Boxoffice Mojo has the numbers

Captain America: The First Avenger – $65,058,524 – – Opening
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 – $47,422,212 – 2wks
Friends with Benefits – $18,622,150 – Opening
Transformers: Dark of the Moon – $12,051,735 – 4wks
Horrible Bosses – $11,884,319 – 3wks

Still, there were a lot of options for summer blockbuster fun this weekend ranging from Superhero to Supernatural, to Supersexy and SuperSci-fi to Superfunny. That’s just a super lineup of options to choose from.

What did you see this past weekend?
